Day 17 - Leuchtturm1917

Well, would you look at that. I blinked and half a year went by. I've actually been journaling in a physical journal. Recently I've become enamored with Leuchtturm notebooks. Here's my very first one: my white Leuchtturm1917!

I'm in love.

That thing there next to the notebook is my Prodir '7 Year Pen' -- supposedly the ink will last me seven years. Well, I've had it for a month and it's already gone missing, so if I find it I'll tell you how long the ink actually lasts.

That being said, I probably won't have regular updates on this blog at all, if any, since I'm trying to write in an actual journal every day.

On one of 'Humans of New York' posts, I saw one about a woman who has journaled every day ever since she was a kid in middle school (or something like that) and she does it like she's brushing her teeth. That gave me a kick in the butt to do that too! Maybe I'll do tldr's of my actual journal entries here or something, who knows.

Anyway, positive thing of the day: dinner with friend at Cheesecake Factory, and coming home to a warm-hearted family!

Day 16 - Dyed My Hair

My first big major skip. An entire week! Goodness.

Today, I dyed my hair. Maple Doughnut by Palty. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of my normal colored hair before I started the dying process. We'll see how it comes out!

Day 14 - Gift

Bought a cute little calendar with pictures of beagles on it for my mom. She was very happy about it! They're her favorite breed of dog.

Day 13 - Pages

I love my books. Love my books.

Day 12 - Old Couple

An elderly couple came by today. The husband asked me, "Do you guys have white mice?" I told them no, but told them where he could look at hamsters.

His wife said, "Why don't you go look at them while I check out?"

"OK!" said the husband and walked off.

A few minutes later while checking out, the elderly lady said, "Oh, look at him, making friends with all the dogs." I followed her point of gaze and saw her husband in the distance chatting with another person while a little dog was near them at their feet.

The way they interacted with each other was so cute! Not in a belittling way. It was nice to see a happy couple, the way she looked at him as he chatted with some strangers all the way on the other side of the store.

Day 11 - Support

I'm very grateful for people who listen. It feels as if I'm a squirrel that's fallen into a torrent, just thrown around with thousands of other pieces of debris. Insignificant, powerless, no clear sense of destination and just waiting for it to end somehow. I'm grateful for the people in my life who are like rocks; I can hold onto them when I'm feeling lost. And I'm also grateful to the creator of those people, the one who placed them in my life. I guess I've been comfortable for a long time, and I'm thankful that at least I have some form of support in my life.

Day 10 - Words

Words can carry so much power with them. Just a few words can completely break someone down. Thankfully in my case, just a few words were enough to give me strength and put a big smile on my face.

Day 9 - Guacamole Chicken Sandwich with Pepper Jack Cheese

Day 8 - Keurig

Waking up every morning to the silky aroma of cheap coffee... aaah.

Day 7 - Chocolate

I found a package of uneaten IKEA chocolate in a drawer. I ate it.

From now on, if I miss any days, I'm just going to make up for it in the next posting. I tried to ignore the uneven numbers, but the thought of them not matching up for the rest of the year...

Day 6 - Ma Biffle

The Weirdo

Day 5 - Cheese Stick

I remembered to pack a jalapeno cheese stick in my lunch bag, so that was nice. I had an extra snack to eat during the day.

During some down time, I went to greet one of the puppies. The little one right up to me and stuck his snout right up to my mouth! Right... my pungent cheese breath may repulse fellow human beings, but not cute little puppies. Maybe I should start eating cheese along with my coffee, to complete my nasty morning breath.

Day 4 - Two Little Yorkies

A coworker brought in her two Yorkies today. They are both very quiet and very shy. My coworker had to step away for a bit so I held one of them like a baby, he just peeked over my shoulder and made the tiniest little sad noises... also both of them have the most pathetic looking little faces I have ever seen on dogs. Makes me just want to scoop them up and cuddle them forever!

Day 3 - Gathering

I had a lunch date planned with a friend, bumped into two other people I haven't caught up with in a while, and we all went to lunch together. I usually like to know exactly what's going on in my day, but it's moments like these that remind me to keep an open mind; surprises can be pleasant!

Day 2 - Light Snowfall

I've already missed a day... AND NOW THE DAYS WON'T MATCH UP!

Today, there was some very light drifty snowfall during the evening. When cars passed by, they would swirl around and get lit up in the glow of the headlamps. Very pretty and reminds me of sappy k-dramas.

Day 1 - Family & Home

First, I would like to congratulate myself for doing at least one post. Good job, you lazy bum.

That was it for today, but then I thought, "That's it? The highlight of the day was that I made my first post?" So here's the second part: being able to go back to a warm home, take a hot shower, put on soft pajamas, and sit down and eat dinner with family after work. I could go on and on about the delicious of details of washing off the poop particles and disinfectant off my body with steaming hot water, but I'm trying to keep my posts brief so I'll actually have the patience to read them one day. I'm definitely thankful for having those things (mentioned above) more than once a year!
